Updating Birth Data After a First Reading
The first chart is only as good as the clock you typed, and a wrong hour, date, or city will move the pillars. When you learn the better fact, update the cast: the new chart is the reading, and the old one was an input error. It is not a second fate, and it is not a layer you must reconcile with the corrected pillars.
Key facts
- Correct the date, the clock, or the place when you have a better record. Do not average two charts.
- An unknown hour stays blank. A guessed hour is not an update. It is a fiction.
- Near a branch boundary, one hour, or a solar-time correction, can change the hour pillar and sometimes the reading of late-life and children language.
- A date error can change the day pillar, which changes the day master and every ten god.
- Time zones and longitude matter. A hospital clock and true solar time are not always the same problem. Read the timezone essay before you "fix" a chart that was already careful.
- Copies you sent to other people do not update themselves. Send fewer copies, and tell anyone who relied on the wrong hour.
What counts as a better fact
A birth certificate, a hospital record, a parent's written note made at the time, or a civil registry extract is a better fact than a rounded family story. "They said evening" is not an hour. "Around dawn" is not a branch. If the record says 06:40 and the family said "after breakfast," use 06:40 and note that breakfast was a story. If the record is silent on time, stop. Blank is honest. Back-solving an hour from a biography — "the hour must have been the one that explains the divorce" — is circular. We will not do it, and you should not ask the tool to confirm a wish.
Place is the city or the coordinates of birth, not the city where you live now. Moving house does not change the natal chart. A relocation belongs, if anywhere in our tools, to a move-date question on the almanac, not to a rewritten hour. Sex at birth is an input to luck-cycle direction on the full chart. If that field was entered wrong, the ten-year sequence can flip direction. Correct it. Do not keep both sequences as "both true."
What actually moves
The year pillar follows the solar year, not the lunar new year and not January first. A birth in late January or early February is the classic place a civil year and a pillar year disagree. Correcting that misunderstanding can change the year column even when the clock was right. The month pillar follows solar terms. A birth near a term boundary can change month command, which changes the strength of the day master and the structure. These are not cosmetic edits. Read the new chart from the top. Do not scribble the new month onto the old useful-element sentence.
The day pillar is the day master and the spouse palace. A date that was off by one, which happens across midnight and across time zones, replaces the self the other stars are judged against. Ten gods all move. If you felt the first reading was "almost right," that feeling is not evidence. Ten gods are a function of the stems. They are not a vibe you blend.
The hour pillar is the most fragile and the most often unknown. Our cast uses a solar-time approach described in the product. A one-hour error is enough to change it. An unknown-hour chart is shorter on purpose. When a record appears later, cast again. The late-life and children language that was absent can now be present. It is new text because the input is new, not because the method changed its mind.
How to retire the first reading
Save the corrected chart. Label the old one, in your own notes, as wrong-hour or wrong-date, so you do not quote it next year. If you posted it, take the post down. If you forwarded a link, tell the recipient the clock was wrong and that the link is stale. You do not owe them the new grid. You owe them the retraction of the old one if they might act on it. Acting on a chart is already a limited idea — the chart is not medical, legal, or financial advice — but a wrong chart is worse than a limited one.
Do not perform a ritual to apologize to the first chart. Do not buy an object to "bridge" the two. We do not sell cure kits, crystals, colors, names, numbers, or plates for this or any other gap. There is no gap. There was a typo, a memory, or a time-zone mistake. The pillars you have now are the pillars of the better record.
If two documents disagree, do not cast both and synthesize. Find out which document the registry treats as the record, or accept that the time is unknown and leave the hour blank. Uncertainty is allowed. A homemade compromise hour is not a third document.
Twins, relatives, and the urge to match
A correction that makes your chart identical to a twin's is not proof the correction is right, and a correction that makes them differ is not proof it is wrong. Same clock, same place, can cast the same pillars. Lives still diverge. The twins essay is the longer argument. The practical point while you edit is: do not tune your hour to match or to unmatch a sibling. Tune it to the record.
Do not update a parent's chart from your memory of their birthday party. Offer them the method. Let them type their own record, or leave it uncast. Their birth data is theirs.
After the new cast
Read strength, useful element, and the ten gods again, slowly. Notice what changed and what did not. A year column that survived the edit was probably never the problem. A day master that changed means every old sentence about "I am a Wood day master" should be retired with the old file. Luck cycles, if you use the full chart, should be read from the new direction and the new start age. Do not mix a decade from the wrong sex field with pillars from the right clock.
Then make ordinary decisions with ordinary constraints. The corrected chart is better guidance. It is still not a schedule imposed on your employer, your clinician, or a court. Date selection, if you need it, uses the civil calendar and optional clash penalties, not a rebuilt destiny for each morning.
What this is not
This is not a method for choosing the birth time you wish you had. It is not medical advice about birth records, and it is not legal advice about amending a certificate. It is the instruction to prefer the better record, to blank the hour when the record is silent, and to throw away the chart the error produced. The new cast replaces the old. It does not haunt it.
