BaZi When Birth Time Is Unknown: Honest Limits and Methods
If you do not know the birth hour, a BaZi chart can still be cast from the date and, when you have it, the place. The hour pillar is left blank. We do not print a guessed hour, and we do not run the eight luck steps unless sex at birth and the hour are both known.

A record that says the date only
Someone born in a hospital that logged the date and not the minute, or whose papers were lost, still has a day master. A reader in Riyadh with a family booklet that names 14 March and nothing else can open the light chart and read the three pillars. The short reading will be shorter. That shortness is the product telling the truth.
What you should not expect the three pillars to do
The three pillars will not describe the hour palace. Questions about children as a palace, about the last decade of a life story, or about an hour-based symbolic star stay unanswered. A website that fills those steps from a date alone has assumed an hour. That result is a hypothesis. We would rather show a blank.
Boundaries that people blur
Two edges cause most of the quiet errors. Traditional hours are branches of about two clock hours, so “early morning” can sit in two different branches. The other edge is midnight. From 23:00 through 23:59 this engine keeps the rat hour and moves the day pillar forward one step. From midnight through 00:59 the civil day has already turned, and the rat hour does not move the pillar a second time. A family argument about “just before midnight or just after” is an argument about the day master, not a detail.
When a memory is almost good enough
If everyone agrees the birth was between 14:00 and 15:30 in a known city, you may have a single branch even after solar time is applied. That is a known hour for this tool, and you should enter a time inside the range only if you understand you are choosing a minute. Read what is stable across the uncertainty, which is often the month and the year, and treat the day as unresolved. Stability is more useful than a confident mistake.

Use the day master and the month structure as the spine. Ask one question the three pillars can touch: how you work, how you meet rules, whether resource or output is louder. Stop before questions that need the hour. A shorter document is easier to misuse if you treat silence as a negative finding. Silence means we did not look. It does not mean the hour palace is empty, hostile, or childless.
Saving the incomplete chart
You can save a three-pillar reading to an account. Later, if a relative finds a time, you cast again. Checkout on this site is not the point of the limit.
Place still matters when time does not
An unknown hour does not make the city irrelevant. The date is interpreted in a time zone, and historical daylight saving can move the civil day at the edges. We may not know which side of a term a midnight birth occupied. If the birthday is a term day, say the month is less certain and read both neighboring months as a question, not as two destinies.
A practical order of work
Write down what is attested: a document, a parent’s consistent memory, a city. Enter only that. Read the light chart’s three pillars. If the hour later becomes attested, cast the full chart and compare the structure, which usually lives in the month and will often hold. If the day master moved, you crossed a day boundary, and the earlier reading should be retired rather than averaged. Averaging two day masters is not a method we recognize.
What strangers on the internet add
Forums will offer a “most likely hour” for your animal year. The year animal is not the hour. A luck-year story from a magazine is not your hour either. Decline screenshots that fill the blank with a smiling sentence about children or money. Those sentences are the tell. Honest work sounds shorter when the data is shorter.
