Team Launches and Shared Auspicious Dates
A launch date is a coordination problem that sometimes borrows an almanac. The coordination problem comes first: who is on call, which zone’s morning the customers will see, whether support can answer, whether the store listing or the registry is even open. Pick a Good Day can then sort the dates that survive that list. It should be a shared sort, or a personal sort that is labeled as personal. It should not be one founder’s clash penalty announced as the company’s fate.
Key facts
- With the birth field empty, everyone who submits the same occasion and the same edges gets the same order. That is the shared almanac.
- With a birth date filled, the order can move, because a year-branch clash costs six and a day-pillar clash costs four. Those costs belong to the person whose date was typed.
- Opening is the usual occasion for a public offer: 开市, and also 移徙 and 入宅 if a physical move is part of the same question. Do not use opening for a private internal refactor.
- A signing among partners is a meeting question, 会友 and 订盟, not automatically a launch.
- The tool stores one birth date, not a roster. It cannot average a team chart.
- Ten gods are not computed per launch day. A colleague who wants a birth reading opens BaZi separately.
One score for the room
Agree the occasion in writing. “We are choosing the morning the pricing page becomes visible” is an opening. “We are choosing the day we notarize the shareholder paper” may be a meeting or a fixed legal date the almanac should not touch. “We are choosing a quiet day to start the build” is Custom, path and officer only, unless you are willing to be scored as a shop. Mixed questions produce a number that nobody can explain in the standup.
Agree the window from real availability. If engineering cannot ship in the first week, do not include it. If a teammate observes a holy day, leave those dates out. The ranker will not know. Then submit once, birth field blank, and paste the top day plus its why-text into the planning doc. The why-text names path, officer, and activity match. Suitable hits add four. Unsuitable hits subtract five. Path is a two-point swing. Success and Open add two. Full adds one. Close and Destruction subtract two. That paragraph is enough for a team that does not want a lecture.
Naming whose birth date was entered
If someone still wants a personal check, they run it on their own and say “this used my birth date.” They do not replace the shared blank-field result without discussion. Two founders can produce two orders. Publishing both is honest. Publishing only the one that avoids a personal Wei clash, while calling it the almanac, is not. The 1991-03-02 sample elsewhere in our notes shows how a single birth date can move a travel score by ten points when both penalties fire. A launch score can move for the same structural reason. The room should see the cause.
Hour pillars and luck cycles are not part of this meeting. They live on a chart that needs a clock time and, for the full reading, a sex marker for the luck count. Shelf prices are separate from the date plans. Nobody’s chart is “the company chart.”
Zones in the invite
Pick the civil date in the zone you told customers to watch. A Pacific morning launch is still the previous evening in central Europe and mid-evening in the Gulf on the calendar day before, or the same date, depending on the hour you chose. Write both the customer-facing date and the UTC hour in the runbook. Do not convert the launch into Beijing in order to please an almanac that never asked for Beijing. Gulf teammates may be off Friday, or Saturday and Sunday, depending on the employer and the year the office changed its week. US and UK weekends will not match them. Ask.
After the date is chosen
The almanac does not staff the rota, write the status page, or refund a customer. A yellow-path Open day can still be a bad release if the build is red. A lower-ranked day with a finished build is the better operations choice. Say that out loud so newer colleagues do not think the tradition forbids a rollback. Sha direction does not tell you which cloud region to use. Peng Zu’s line does not assign a pager.
Financial forecasts, hiring promises, and securities law are not in the score. Neither is medical on-call advice. Treatment phrases never ranked the day. If the “launch” is a clinic’s opening hours, regulators and patients come before the officer.
What this is not
This is not a team horoscope and not a bonding exercise. It is not entertainment. Shared date selection is professional guidance used narrowly. The fiction quiz may be a pastime for individuals. It is not an input to a release. We do not cast a group Qi Men plate or a group Zi Wei chart. We do not have one.
