Product Hunt and Shipping Dates Through an Almanac Lens
Product Hunt’s public day is a product of Pacific Time, a hunter or a maker schedule, assets that are actually ready, and someone awake to answer comments. A Chinese almanac can sit beside that list as a way to order a few civil dates you are truly free to ship. It cannot see the leaderboard, and it must not be described as a growth tactic. Pick a Good Day is professional guidance for date quality. It is not financial advice and not a promise that 开市 on the suitable list becomes revenue.
Key facts
- The closest occasion is opening, which scores opening a business, moving house, and moving in. A software launch is only the first of those, unless you are also moving premises.
- If the “ship” is only an internal tag, Custom is more honest than opening.
- The civil date you rank should be the date you want on the public listing, after you have checked how that listing defines a day. Do not rank a Beijing conversion of a Pacific morning.
- Pacific Time observes US daylight saving. A spring or autumn boundary can change which UTC hour corresponds to “12:01 a.m. Pacific.” The almanac day still follows the civil date you type.
- Birth-date personalization is optional and personal. It is a poor default for a public launch watched by people who did not submit their charts.
- One preview day is free.
The Pacific date and your local morning
Decide which calendar date the listing will show to a reader in California. Then translate that into the hours your own team will actually work. A maker in Berlin who goes live at 09:00 local may already be late on a Pacific listing day, or early, depending on the season and the rule the directory uses that month. Write the UTC instant in the runbook. Submit the Pacific civil date to the almanac if that is the date you are choosing, or submit your support-team’s civil date if that is the date you are choosing. Say which. A single unlabeled “launch day” across six time zones is how people rank the wrong square.
US daylight saving and European summer time do not flip on the same weekend. A March or October launch needs the zone written out, not assumed. Gulf teammates on a fixed offset will not spring forward with California. Their weekend may also differ. A Friday feature can be a weekend for one office and a workday for another.
What the rank can still tell you
Among three Pacific dates when the assets, the hunter, and the support rota are all free, the opening score distinguishes traditional day quality. 开市 suitable adds four. 开市 unsuitable subtracts five. If moving or moving-in is not your question, those extra names may still match or miss and move the score, because they are part of the opening set. Read the why-text. If a move phrase is distorting a pure software day, switch to Custom and accept path and officer only: yellow or black by two points, Success or Open by two, Full by one, Close or Destruction by minus two. That is a cleaner model of “we are not relocating a shop.”
The public clash animal and the sha direction will print. They do not predict comments, upvotes, or press. Peng Zu’s line will print. It is not a slogan.
What the rank cannot ship
It cannot finish the landing page, clear a security review, or staff the first six hours of comments. It cannot tell you whether a paid acquisition test is wise. Pricing, runway, and taxes are outside the tool. A high score on a day the build is broken is a worse choice than a lower score on a day the build is ready. Say that to anyone on the team who treats the officer as a gate.
We do not claim a historical correlation between yellow-path days and directory rank. We have not studied one, and we will not invent one. There are no star ratings and no customer quotes on this page.
Charts and stories, kept off the listing
A founder’s BaZi chart can be a private professional reading. It should not be pasted into a launch channel as the reason for the date unless the founder is explicit and the team agrees. Ten gods are not a per-day Product Hunt layer. The past-life quiz is entertainment fiction. It has no role in a shipping calendar. Intention cards on this site are also a reflective, non-fortune product. They are not a substitute for the almanac line.
Medical timing is out of scope. If someone is unwell, the launch moves for human reasons. Hidden clinical almanac entries were removed so they would not be used as a schedule.
What this is not
This is not growth coaching, not securities advice, and not a partnership with any directory. It is not entertainment. It is a way to sort candidate civil dates with a Chinese almanac after the operational constraints are already true. A black-path day does not forbid shipping. A yellow-path day does not cause a sale.
