Creative Projects and Auspicious Start Dates
A creative project has at least two dates, and they are easy to confuse. One is the private morning you decide the work has begun: the blank document, the first tracking session, the day the canvas stops being a plan. The other is the public morning other people can see: a shop opening, a release, a private view. Pick a Good Day can rank either, but only if you tell it which question you mean. The rank is professional guidance for a civil date. It does not supply the work, and it does not promise an audience.
Key facts
- A private start is a Custom occasion. Points then follow yellow path or black path, plus a small set of day officers.
- Carving, dyeing, sculpting, and similar craft lines may show on the suitable or unsuitable list. They do not, by themselves, change a Custom score.
- A public opening of a business or offer is a different occasion. That score looks for opening a business (开市), moving house (移徙), and moving in (入宅).
- The longest window is one year. The free result is the single highest day. Later rows wait on the subscription, and checkout is not taking payment.
- Birth matching subtracts for a year-branch clash or a day-pillar clash. It does not write a ten-god story for each studio day.
- Doctor, treatment, and acupuncture entries stay off the printed list and never enter the arithmetic.
Private making, named honestly
Writers, composers, editors, and designers often want a date that feels like a threshold. The almanac’s older craft vocabulary is still on the daily lists: carving, dyeing, casting metal, setting up a loom, and neighboring phrases, shown in English with the Chinese term. Read them if they help you recognize the kind of day the tradition is describing. Do not assume the tool added four points because “carving” appeared. On Custom, the arithmetic ignores named activities. It uses the path — two points up for yellow, two down for black — and the officer. Success or Open adds two. Full adds one. Close or Destruction removes two. Establish, Remove, Balance, Stable, Initiate, Danger, and Receive are named on the card and left at zero in this formula.
The custom label can record “album draft” or “chapter one” in forty characters or fewer. That label is a note for you. It does not create a new scoring rule.
A start you control and a delivery you do not
You can choose the day you open a file. You often cannot choose the day a printer, a gallery, or a streaming calendar will accept the file. Rank the window you actually control. If the only strong Open day falls after the printer’s cutoff, the cutoff wins. A lower-ranked day on which the work can physically begin is a better use of the tool than a perfect score on a day the studio is closed.
Collaborators who are not in your morning
A session with a singer in another city is a meeting as well as a making day. If the act you want scored is the call itself, the meeting occasion looks at 会友 and 订盟. If the act is the private writing before that call, stay on Custom and do not borrow the meeting score. A live session at 22:00 in Los Angeles is already the next civil date in London or Dubai. Agree the date in the place where the session is hosted, then rank that date. Do not translate everyone’s clocks into Beijing and call the result shared.
When the work is also a shop
Hanging a sign, taking a first order, or publishing a paid offer is closer to an opening than to a private draft. Use the opening occasion when that is the true question. Opening a business on the suitable list supports the score; the same phrase on the unsuitable list pulls it down, by four and five points respectively for each matched activity in the set. Moving a studio from one room to another can also belong there, because moving house and moving in are part of that occasion’s list. A manuscript that nobody is being asked to buy is not an opening. Scoring it as one will favor days that suit a shop, which may be the wrong weather for a quiet draft.
Peng Zu’s caution and the sha direction (east, south, west, or north) print beside the score. They explain the traditional page. They do not add a hidden bonus.
Birth data, kept small
If you attach a birth date, the check is the year branch and the day pillar only. A clash with the year branch costs six. A clash between the day’s branch and your day-pillar branch costs four. There is no hour field on this form, so daylight saving at your birth does not change the creative-day penalty. Hour, solar time, and ten gods are questions for a BaZi chart with a place, not for a studio calendar. Two band members can share a release date and still carry different clash notes. Say whose date was entered before the group treats the penalty as collective.
What this is not
Nothing here guarantees a finished piece, a sale, a stream count, or a kinder review. The page is not legal advice about copyright, contracts, or trademarks, and it is not financial advice about pricing or advances. It is not clinical advice, which is why treatment lines never ride along on the card. The rank is professional metaphysics for guidance. It is not a past-life chapter and it is not a mood board. Taste, craft, and the deadline you signed still do the work.
