Useful God and Ten Gods: How Priority Relates to Roles

The useful god names a priority, and the ten gods name the roles that stems already play against the day master. Priority points at one or more of those roles without adding an eleventh god or promoting a role into a job title, a spouse type, or a moral grade. If officer is useful, the officer stems matter more in the reading, and they do not become an instruction to stay in one profession. This is professional BaZi guidance about how two layers of the same chart fit.

Key facts

  • The ten gods are Companion, Rob Wealth, Eating God, Hurting Officer, Direct Wealth, Indirect Wealth, Direct Officer, Seven Killings, Direct Resource, and Indirect Resource, glossed in English beside the stems.
  • Output covers Eating God and Hurting Officer. Wealth covers the two wealth gods. Officer covers Direct Officer and Seven Killings. Resource covers the two resource gods. Companion covers Companion and Rob Wealth.
  • A strong day master is read toward output, wealth, and officer. A weak day master is read toward resource and companion. That is how priority selects among roles that already exist.
  • A useful element can correspond to different ten gods on different day masters. Water is resource for wood, officer for fire, and wealth for earth, among other pairings.
  • The month stem’s ten god is often the loudest role in the season. It is not automatically the useful god. Structure and priority can name different roles.
  • Hidden stems on the full chart carry ten gods too. A priority that seems absent on the surface may still have a root.

Roles first, then the highlight

Every stem other than the day master receives a ten-god label from the five-element relation and the yin-yang polarity. The label is a job inside the map: output, wealth, officer, resource, or peer. The useful-element sketch then highlights which of those jobs the strength rule would rather support. Highlighting is not renaming. A Direct Officer stem remains Direct Officer when officer is useful, and it remains Direct Officer when officer is the role the method would rather not pile on.

That is why a sentence like “my useful god is Direct Officer” needs a second clause. Direct Officer is a role. Usefulness is a preference about that role, taken from strength and season. The preference can attach to the element that plays officer for this day master, so several stems may carry it, or none of the visible stems may carry it and a hidden stem may. The sketch is allowed to name the element when the role is what you are meant to track. What BaZi is introduces the day master as the reference. This page is the next step: reference, roles, then priority.

Polarity still matters inside the pair. Direct Officer and Seven Killings are both officer, and they are not the same tone in classical notes. A sketch that says the officer element is useful has not told you to ignore that difference. Read the actual stem. If both polarities appear, say so. If only one appears, do not invent the other so the chart can sound complete.

When the useful role is missing on the surface

A priority can name resource while every visible stem is output and wealth. That is not a broken chart and not a shopping errand. It means the preferred role is thin in the stems you can see. The full chart’s hidden stems may still show a root in a branch. If they do not, the honest sentence is that the preferred role is weakly represented, and the reading should stay modest. Weak representation is not a deficit in your character and not a hole you fill with an object. Useful god and balance keeps that distinction: inventory is not the same sentence as priority.

Luck steps, when the hour and sex at birth are known, can later bring a stem of the preferred role. The step is a climate, not a delivery. Sex at birth chooses the direction of the count. It does not change which ten god a natal stem already is.

What priority must not do to a role

Priority must not turn wealth gods into a salary, officer gods into a license, or output gods into a publishing contract. Those translations are the ordinary overreach. Wealth on a chart is a relationship of elements. A contract is a document with a clock. The guidance disclaimer keeps medical, legal, and financial decisions with the people qualified to make them.

Priority must also not collapse the ten gods into the useful one, as if the other stems became blank. A chart with a useful officer element still has its resource stems, and those stems still describe something. The highlight tells you where the method would lean. It does not erase the rest of the page. Readers who only quote the useful god are reading a headline in place of the article.

Companion as a useful role is the case people trust least, because popular writing treats peers as rivalry only. On a weak day master, companion can be the support the method prefers. Rivalry language can still apply to Rob Wealth in context. The preference for support does not require you to call every colleague a threat, and it does not require you to call every colleague a cure. The ten-god gloss stays a gloss.

A partnership decision at 16:00

A solicitor in Dublin must tell her firm by 30 November at 16:00 whether she will join the partnership track or stay in her current role. The sketch names the officer element as useful, and a podcast clip says that “useful Direct Officer means stay inside institutions.” Her month stem is Direct Officer. That stem is a real role: rules, rank, the vocabulary of being checked. Usefulness means the strength rule would rather see that kind of qi supported than piled over with more resource. It does not mean the 16:00 email must say yes, and it does not mean litigation is the only room in which officer qi can appear. Advisory work, a courtroom seat, or a different firm can all be ordinary careers. The chart does not rank them.

She can write one reflective line if it helps her think: the map highlights being checked and structured, and her current weeks feel like unmanaged output. The line is a question for her, not a vote. The firm’s deadline is the civil constraint. Counsel and the partnership deed outrank a ten god. Four pillars will show the month stem’s role without making the decision.

Reading the two layers in order

Name the day master. Name the month branch and whether it leaves the day master abundant or pressed. Read the ten gods on the stems you actually have, including hidden stems if you opened the full chart. Then read the useful-element sketch and ask which of those gods sit on the preferred element. Stop before a job title. If the hour is unknown, skip luck steps rather than guessing which future stem will “complete” a role. BaZi prints the gloss and the sketch together on the light chart so this order is visible. The full chart adds the hidden stems that make the order less of a guess.

Help is for how the pages save and display. An almanac day on Good Day does not carry ten gods for your birth. Do not import a useful-god sentence into a date rank as if the rank had confirmed the role.

What this is not

  • Not an eleventh god, and not a rename of Direct Officer, Eating God, or any other role.
  • Not a job title, a license, a salary, or a spouse type.
  • Not proof that a missing role on the surface must be bought, worn, or waited for as a package.
  • Not a reason to ignore the stems that are not the priority.
  • Not a luck cycle. Steps need a known hour and sex at birth, and they do not change natal labels.
  • Not entertainment. The chart is guidance.
