Snippet-Ready Definitions for Almanac Terms

Almanac terms on this site are rank inputs for a civil window you already have, and a snippet should say that in the first breath. Yellow path, black path, day officer, suitable and unsuitable lists, and clash direction are the words a date card prints. Pick a Good Day is professional guidance. A quoted definition that turns those words into a command has added a claim the card does not make. The past-life quiz is entertainment fiction and is not the source of these terms.

Key facts

  • Yellow path adds two points on our date rank. Black path subtracts two. The weight is a published rule.
  • The day officer is one of twelve rotating labels. Success and Open add two, Full adds one, and Close and Destruction subtract two.
  • A suitable activity match adds four points. An unsuitable match subtracts five. A custom occasion ignores those lists.
  • Clash direction is named on the card. If a birth date is added, a clash with the birth year branch loses six and a clash with the birth day pillar loses four.
  • Medical activity names from traditional almanacs are left off the card. A clinic appointment is not a date-selection problem.
  • One day in a window can be previewed without payment. The rest of the list is the subscription product.

Definitions you can quote

Yellow path and black path. A civil date is tagged either yellow path (黄道) or black path (黑道). The rank we publish gives the yellow tag two points and takes two away for the black tag. A tag cannot cancel a day you are obliged to keep, and it cannot promise the event.

Day officer. The day officer (建除) is a rotating name from a set of twelve. In English the weighted names are the ones to remember first: Success and Open are worth two points, Full is worth one, and Close together with Destruction cost two. Establish, Remove, Balance, Stable, Initiate, Danger, and Receive are still printed. They do not carry those particular weights. Danger and Destruction are inherited labels. They do not forecast injury.

Suitable and unsuitable. Suitable (宜) and unsuitable (忌) are the activity lists printed for a date. The rank checks the names that belong to the occasion you picked. Four points if the suitable list matches. Five points off if the unsuitable list matches. A journey, a wedding, a memorial, a meeting, and an opening do not share one activity name. If you choose a custom occasion, those lists drop out and only path and officer remain.

Clash direction. The card names the day’s clash and the sha direction. Those are almanac marks on that civil date. They are not a full BaZi of every row in the list. Adding a birth date turns on two penalties only: six points if the candidate clashes the birth year branch, four if it clashes the birth day pillar.

Solar term versus festival. BaZi months follow solar terms. Almanac day ranks follow civil dates. A lunar festival can fall on any officer. The festival does not rewrite the path, and the path does not move the festival.

The longer product account is how a good day is picked. Chart vocabulary, if that is the actual question, starts at what BaZi is, not on this card. The guidance disclaimer is the label for both tools: professional metaphysics, no promised outcome.

How the points sit next to a calendar you cannot edit

The rank is a sort inside a window. It is not a search for a mythical free day outside that window. If the venue, the visa desk, the school, or the landlord offers one slot, the slot is the calendar. Path and officer can break a tie only among slots that exist. A black-path penalty of two points is smaller than an unsuitable-activity penalty of five, and both are smaller than a missing key.

Preview behavior belongs in the definition because people ask whether the tool hides a better day. The preview reveals one day and holds the rest. There is no daily shuffle. The same window, occasion, and birth date return the same order. Changing the occasion changes which activity names are matched. Changing nothing changes nothing.

Officers that sound like alarms

Destruction, Danger, and Close worry readers because the English is blunt. The rotation is a twelve-name cycle, so those labels return on a schedule. They are not a weather warning and not a medical instruction. A tender public date can carry any officer. The officer does not grade grief, and it does not tell you to skip a duty. Immediate danger is a local emergency call. This page is not a dispatch desk.

Black path is the same kind of word. It subtracts two points. It is not a moral stain on the people who meet that day. Yellow path adds two. It is not a halo and not a reason to break a rule the venue already set.

A venue hold that expires at 14:30

A planner in Dublin is holding a community room for a Thursday seminar. The hold expires Friday at 14:30, and the only other room the center can offer that week is Wednesday at 18:00, after most attendees have left work. They search “what does yellow path mean” at 11:05, hoping the label will cancel Thursday. The snippet-ready answer is that yellow path is a two-point preference inside a rank. It does not extend a hold, and it does not make 18:00 on Wednesday a better civic fact than a room people can reach. If both slots were truly open and equal, the path could break the tie. Here the attendance constraint has already chosen Thursday. The rank is allowed to describe Thursday. It is not allowed to veto it.

Run that window in Pick a Good Day if you want the officer and the path named on the card. Plans are listed at $12.99 a month, $29.99 a quarter, and $89.99 a year, and the plan page is Good Day plans. Those figures are the shelf for the list. They are not a fee for a lucky result. A birth-chart question is a different tool, BaZi, and this definition page does not cast one.

What stays off the snippet

Do not quote a cure, a lawsuit strategy, or a tax delay as an almanac use. Do not quote a child’s birth data as a way to “personalize” a school date. Adults may plan a family logistics day without turning a minor into a chart. Do not quote a mailed talisman. The product is a date list on a screen. The four pillars are not reprinted on the day card, and a snippet should not claim they are.

What this is not

This is not a command list, a medical almanac, or a promise that the highest score is the safest day. It is not entertainment. It is a set of short definitions for the date-rank words we print, with the points attached and the civil calendar left in charge. Counsel, clinicians, and contracts win when they conflict with a path.

Previewing a day

You can open a one-day preview. Opening the tool does not charge you. The definitions above are the words that preview uses. They do not change because a subscription is or is not available. Shorter questions sit on Help.
