Screenshot Ethics for Readings and Cards
A screenshot stops being private the moment it can be forwarded, and a BaZi image often includes a birth date, a clock, and sentences about money, partnership, or the body. Do not post a full chart that is not yours, and do not treat the capture itself as consent. A fictional past-life card is a different product and still needs the same permission.
Key facts
- Birth data in the corner of a reading is identifying. Crop it, or do not post the image.
- Someone else's full chart is not yours to publish, even if you live together, even if you paid, even if the reading was on your screen.
- Ask before you photograph a result a friend opened in front of you. A verbal "sure" for a glance is not a verbal "post this."
- Health-metaphor lines, relationship lines, and a child's data do not belong in a public capture at all.
- A fictional past-life card is still a personal image. Post your own, if you post one, and do not imply it is a BaZi chart.
- We do not publish speculative charts of public figures. A screenshot of a fan cast is not a workaround.
What is in the frame
Look at the capture before you look at the caption. Is there a date of birth? An hour? A city? An email address in a header? A second person's name? A luck-cycle table that required sex at birth? Any one of those is a reason to crop or to delete. The prose of the reading can be sensitive even after the header is gone. A sentence that sounds like a diagnosis, a fertility remark, or a verdict on a spouse will be quoted without your crop. If the interesting part of the image is the part that harms, the image is the wrong souvenir.
Your own chart is the only default subject. Even then, prefer a paraphrase in your own words to a full-bleed grid. Future you will change jobs, households, and audiences. The image will not update. An hour you later discover was wrong will keep circulating in the wrong form. The essay on updating birth data explains the new cast. It cannot edit other people's albums.
Consent that is specific
Consent is about this image, this audience, this week. "You can read it" is not "you can post it." "You can send it to my sister" is not "you can put it on a story." If you want to share, ask a second question: may I post this crop, to this place, with these details removed? If the person hesitates, the answer is no. Do not negotiate with a metaphysics argument. The chart does not require witnesses.
Minors are out. Do not screenshot a child's pillars, a student's, or a birth time a parent mentioned in passing. This site's chart tools are for adults handling their own data. A family album is not an exception we are willing to illustrate.
Clients, students, and patients are out even when the relationship is friendly. If you teach BaZi, use a constructed example with a stated fictional time, or use your own chart and say so. Do not use a client's screen because the ten gods were "a good illustration." Good illustrations are not owed by the people who trusted you.
Readings versus cards
BaZi and Pick a Good Day are professional guidance. An image of them should not be captioned as a game, a joke diagnosis, or a challenge to strangers to "drop their birth time." Inviting a pile of birth data into a comment thread is an ethical failure even if you never cast the charts. You would be collecting sensitive facts you do not need. Decline unsolicited birth times. Tell people to use a tool themselves, in private, if they want a cast.
A Good Day screenshot should not show someone else's birth date in the match field. Clash penalties are a score against a year branch and a day pillar. They are not a portrait, but the date in the form is still a birth date. Crop the form. If the image is only the ranked civil day, path, and officer, it is much easier to share, and even then do not imply the day guarantees an outcome. One free preview day is one day. Do not present it as a survey of a month you did not unlock.
Past-life result cards on this site are fictional stories from a quiz. They are not pillars. If you post your own card, keep the fiction visible so nobody treats it as a chart or as a fact about a relative. Do not post a partner's card, a pet result that exposes a household, or a card a friend generated on your phone. Different product, same consent rule. Do not stitch a fictional card and a BaZi grid into one image and call them a single destiny. They do not confirm each other.
Public figures and "educational" captures
A screenshot of a celebrity chart from another site, reposted as education, still asserts a birth time. If that time is gossip, the screenshot launders gossip into a graphic. We will not host that graphic, and we ask you not to make it in our name. Historical figures with well-documented civil records are still not a product here. Speculation limits are their own essay. The image rule is narrower: do not use a capture to sneak past a limit the writing already set.
Memes that mock a day officer or a weak chart are unkind and usually inaccurate. A day officer is a rank label. A weak day master is a technical strength term, not an insult. If the joke needs someone's real grid, it is not a joke we want circulated.
When a capture is the right tool
A capture is reasonable as a private note to yourself, stored where your account already lives, or as a support question to the address that handles the product, with only the detail needed to explain a bug. It is reasonable, with explicit yes, as a crop sent to one person who shares the decision. It is a poor default for a feed. If you are unsure, write two sentences and attach nothing.
If you already posted too much, take it down. Tell the person if it was theirs. Do not wait for the metaphysics to "expire." Images do not expire because a luck cycle turned.
What this is not
This is not legal advice on privacy, copyright, or platform rules. It is not a technical guide to stripping metadata, though stripping metadata is wise if you do post. It is an ethic. Do not post someone else's full chart. Do not treat a screenshot as consent. Crop birth data. Keep health lines and minors out of the frame. Do not launder a speculative public-figure cast through an image.
