A Luck Pillar Journal Template for Annual Reflection

A luck pillar journal is a single page you fill once a year. It records the decade’s guest, one theme you are willing to test, one civil deadline that does not care about the theme, and a line about what last year’s theme got wrong. The page is a reflective tool beside professional BaZi guidance. It is not a diary product, not a prediction log, and not a reason to reread the chart every week.

Key facts

  • One page, one sitting. If the journal becomes a daily omen book, it has left this template.
  • The luck pillar changes about every ten years. Most annual pages will repeat the same guest and change only the year pillar, the theme’s evidence, and the deadline.
  • Last year’s miss is required. A template that only records hits trains you to ignore failure. Guidance you cannot retire when it misses is no longer guidance.
  • The civil deadline must be someone else’s clock or a contract’s clock: a filing, a renewal, a portal. “Be more officer-like” is not a deadline.
  • Write for yourself. Do not paste a partner’s or a child’s birth into the page. Adults reflect on their own charts.
  • If you have no luck pillar because the hour is unknown, keep the template and write “decade: not counted” in the guest line. Do not invent a pillar to fill the blank.

The template

Copy the headings. Keep the answers short enough to reread next year without a performance.

Headings to copy

Year of this page, and the solar year it belongs to, noting that the BaZi year turns at Start of Spring rather than on 1 January. Luck pillar stem and branch, with the ten god of the stem. Natal month structure, one phrase. This year’s annual pillar, one ten god. Theme, a single line you could bear to find false. Civil deadline, with a clock time and the office that owns it. Last year’s theme, and the miss: one concrete event the theme did not describe. Review date: a Sunday you choose, not a midnight the pillar demands. Body note: anything a clinician, a contract, or counsel handled instead of the chart. That last heading matters. It teaches the page its rank.

How to fill a line without inflating it

Theme: “Evaluation is louder than private craft this decade, and I will notice it without chasing a title.” Not: “I become director.” Deadline: “License portal, 31 December, board’s own close.” Not: “a lucky day in December.” Miss: “I wrote that money would be rhythmic. The only money event was a late client in April, which I solved by a reminder email, not by a stem.” The miss should be slightly embarrassing. Embarrassment is how the journal stays honest. Age estimates belong in the margin if you are near a boundary, so you do not treat a printed age as the review date.

A filled page from Muscat

An adult in Muscat keeps the page in a notebook, not in a public thread. The solar year still belongs to the pillar that began at Start of Spring. Her luck stem is Direct Resource. Her natal month is Hurting Officer. This year’s stem reads as Indirect Wealth. She writes the theme: “Study has a handoff. The sideways money offer is not the study.” Her civil deadline is a professional-dues portal at 16:00 on 20 March, Gulf time, owned by her institute. Last year’s theme was “pressure will organize me.” The miss: she spent February in useful quiet, and the only organized thing was a spreadsheet she chose, not a crisis the year pillar brought. Her review date is the first Sunday of September. She says, before she closes the notebook, “If September shows the theme was vanity, I drop it.” That sentence is the template working.

She does not record her sister’s chart on the same page. She does not record a plan to time a medical test to the review Sunday. The disclaimer has a seat in the body note: dues are the institute’s, health is a clinician’s, the theme is optional. What BaZi is fits in one line of the natal slot. If the line needs a paragraph, the page is too excited.

What to do on the review Sunday

Read last year’s miss first, then the theme, then the deadline. Ask whether the deadline was met by ordinary effort. Ask whether the theme described anything you could point to without the notebook. If yes, you may keep a revised line. If no, write “retired” and choose a duller theme or none. Do not open eight future decades on that Sunday. The introduction already warned against collecting a biography from pillars you have not lived. One guest is enough.

When the decade itself changes

On the year the step turns over, fill two guest lines, old and new, and a margin note that the boundary is a window. Transitions supply the planning rule: civil deadlines still win. The journal records that you noticed the window. It does not move the dues portal into the new stem’s favorite month.

Storage, privacy, and other people

Keep the page where a screenshot will not travel. A ten-god note about “peers” can be read as gossip if it leaves the notebook. The template has no field for other people’s names. If you want a date rank for an optional outing, use Pick a Good Day and do not paste the score into the journal as if it were a luck pillar. The tools answer different questions. Mixing them on one page is how a path mark becomes a theme. Let the theme stay a decade sentence.

What this is not

  • A prediction diary, a manifestation list, or a score of how the year “matched.”
  • Medical, legal, or financial record-keeping. Those have their own files and their own professionals.
  • A shared household fate page, or a child’s annual review.
  • A requirement to feel the theme. A blank theme is an acceptable page.
  • Proof. A hit is not evidence the method is certain. A miss is a reason to retire a sentence, not a reason to panic.
  • Entertainment. The journal is a way of holding BaZi guidance lightly enough to check it.
