Good Day Planning Note 1: School calendars before auspicious preference
A school calendar is a published constraint, and a family plan has to fit inside the term dates, exams, and closures that are actually written down. Auspicious preference comes after. A yellow-path day cannot move an exam or invent a holiday the school did not grant.
Key facts
- Read the school's own dates before any almanac. Inset days and exam weeks are not interchangeable with weekends.
- Compulsory attendance wins. Do not pull a child from a required day because the day officer looks severe.
- If two genuinely free days both work for transport and the other people involved, yellow path (黄道) or Success (成) or Open (开) can break the tie.
- Black path (黑道), Close (闭), or Destruction (破) is a reason to prefer the other free day. It is not a reason to skip school.
- A clash with a child's or a parent's year branch is a rank penalty for optional days. It is not a full BaZi of the child, and it is not a judgement of the school.
- One preview day is not the term.
What you decide from the school calendar
Download or copy the term dates the school issued, not a parent's memory of last year. Mark exams, performances the child is in, sports fixtures that select a team, and any day the school has already called compulsory. Mark the days the child is not required to attend. Those are the only days a family outing can honestly use. A training day when the building is shut is free only if you have care arranged. A free child with nowhere to be is not a holiday. It is a supervision problem.
Then mark the adults. Which caregiver can travel on which of those free days? Which grandparent's visit only overlaps one weekend? Which appointment — a clinician, a visa biometrics slot, a custody schedule — already occupies one of the gaps? Remove those. The dates that remain are the real menu. If the menu has one item, take it. The almanac does not get to send the child back to school on a closure day or out of school on an open day.
If the menu is empty, the plan waits or changes shape. A day trip becomes an evening after pickup. A trip becomes the next published holiday. You do not solve an empty menu by treating a Wednesday in term as optional because it is yellow path. Attendance rules are the school's and, in many places, the law's. This page is not legal advice about absence. It is a planning rule: we will not bless an absence the school did not grant.
Study, exams, and the urge to time revision
Revision belongs on the evenings the exam timetable leaves, not on a day officer's favorite morning if that morning is when the paper is sat. Sit the paper when it is sat. A black-path exam morning is still the morning. Sleep, food, and the school's instructions outrank a path. We will not tell a student to miss a paper. We will not tell a parent that a useful element predicts a grade. A natal chart, if an adult wants one for themselves, stays on BaZi and is not a report card. Do not cast a child's chart for a feed, and do not collect classmates' birthdays.
If the question is which free Saturday to use for a quiet review, among Saturdays that are actually free and not already full of care, then a softer officer can break that small tie. Prefer the day you will genuinely sit down. A Success label does not create concentration. A room, a rested child, and a realistic page count do.
How the tie-break works when the menu is real
Take only the free days that survived the term dates and the adult constraints. If two or three remain and they are equal for travel and rest, rank that short window. Prefer yellow path. Prefer Open or Success over Close or Destruction when the practical facts do not distinguish them. A custom occasion is the honest setting: the rank then follows path and officer rather than a shop's activity list. Do not label a half-term picnic as a business opening to chase a different line.
If the higher-ranked day is the one the caregiver is on shift, discard the rank. The shift was a constraint the tool did not see. If both days are truly equal, take the higher one and book. Do not spend the term re-rolling.
One revealed day is not the term
The free preview shows a single day of whatever window you enter. A whole term is the wrong window. Enter the two or three candidate dates, or a span that contains only them. If the revealed day is not a candidate, it has not broken your tie. You may not see the full order. Plans that will show it are $12.99 a month, $29.99 a quarter, and $89.99 a year. The school will not hold a seat for that. Decide from the term dates, and use a visible path day only when it is one of the days the school already freed.
Birth match penalizes a clash with the birth year branch or day pillar of the date you typed. Typing a child's birth date into a public or shared screen is a privacy problem. Prefer not to. A parent's optional preference does not require the child's clock. Identical treatment of siblings matters more than differentiated "lucky" days. The twins problem is a chart problem. The school problem is simpler: do not assign one child the outing and the other the plain day as a metaphysical distinction.
What we will not promise
We will not promise a calm trip, a better grade, a school that changes its inset day, or a teacher who is kinder because you traveled on yellow path. We will not promise that staying home on a clash day protects a child. Safety, attendance, and care protect a child. We will not read the school's calendar as hostile because it ignores stems. It is a timetable. It is supposed to ignore stems.
We will not help you write an absence excuse. If a child is ill, follow the school's sickness rules and a clinician. Our day cards omit medical lines so they are not read as a reason to delay care or to invent a sick day. If you are in a dispute about attendance, talk to the school and, if you need it, a qualified adviser. The almanac is not a party to that dispute.
A decision order for this constraint only
Open the published term dates. Cross out exams, required days, and days no adult can cover. If one free day remains, use it or change the plan. If several remain and they are practically equal, let yellow path or the day officer separate them. Tell the family the school reason first. Do not keep a child out of class to improve a score.
What this is not
This is not education policy, attendance law, or medical advice. The school calendar comes before auspicious preference. A path day cannot move an exam or create a holiday. A clash day cannot justify an absence. We do not cast children for content, and we do not promise academic outcomes.
