Hardware Launch Dates — Supply Chain First
A hardware launch date is the day you can put a real unit in a real box and support it. Parts, assembly, compliance marks, and the freight that carries them come first. An almanac preference is optional only after a golden sample has passed the tests you said it must pass. Pick a Good Day does not clear customs, does not finish a board respin, and does not promise a shipment. The rank is professional guidance for a civil announcement you can still move. The factory calendar is not movable by a path.
Key facts
- A respin, a parts shortage, and a compliance file in review are hard constraints. Open and Success do not accelerate a lab.
- Announce when the thing you will sell matches the thing you photographed. A yellow-path day with last year’s prototype is a false launch.
- Customs holds, carrier cutoffs, and certification marks are other people’s systems. This page is not legal or logistics advice.
- A custom “launch vibe” label scores path and officer only. It does not grow an activity list that understands firmware.
- One preview day is free. It is not a bill of materials.
- A founder’s chart does not describe the product’s yield. Yield is a measurement.
The chain, named in order
Write the chain in the order a slipped link actually slips. Design freeze. Parts on order, with lead times from the supplier rather than from hope. Boards at the assembler. Bring-up. The compliance tests your market requires, which differ for the United States, the European Union, and other destinations, and which a lawyer or a compliance lab must speak to, not an almanac. Golden samples. Packaging. Freight. Support scripts and spare parts. Only when golden samples pass and freight is booked inside a window you can truly shift do you have a timing preference worth ranking. If any earlier link is open, you have an engineering problem. Solve it. The score you might misuse later is documented on the almanac fact sheet.
Do not announce a date to a list because a forum called the date Open, and then discover the assembler is still waiting on a connector. People will forgive a moved date that you explain. They remember a date you dressed as destiny and missed. Guidance is optional. Silicon is not.
Eindhoven, a respin, and a wanted 4 May
A small hardware team in Eindhoven has boards in a respin. The assembler expects panels on Monday 18 May 2026, if the fabricator hits the date they quoted on the purchase order. Compliance paperwork for the markets they care about is still in review. Someone on the team wants to announce on 4 May because a calendar note called that day Open. The crates are not in the building. The announcement moves to whenever golden samples pass bring-up, even if that day is labeled Close. A customs hold at a European airport beats the path. They do not preview 4 May as a launch. They might, later, preview two real ship-announcement mornings after the samples pass, using Pick a Good Day as a tie-break between a Tuesday and a Wednesday that support can both staff. If only one of those mornings has a person who can answer the inbox, they take that morning and skip the tool.
Firmware and the photo
The photo on the page must be the revision you will fulfill. If the enclosure changed after the shoot, reshoot or say so in the caption. A favorable officer does not update a CAD file. Firmware that bricks a unit on first plug-in is not a “black-path launch.” It is a bug. Hold the launch. Fix the bug. The day you resume can be dull. Dull is allowed. Customers prefer dull and working. The guidance disclaimer says a top-ranked day promises no outcome. A working unit is an engineering outcome, measured, not ranked.
Money, moq, and the date you tell buyers
Minimum order quantities, deposits to factories, and your own cash determine whether you can wait for a prettier week. Sometimes waiting costs a second setup fee that empties the account. Take the earlier, plainer day if the samples are good and the fee is real. That is operations, not a lack of faith. This page is not financial advice. A spreadsheet and, if you need one, a qualified adviser beat a wealth star. Personal chart language, if a founder wants it for their own stress, is BaZi or the full chart. It does not go in the investor update as a reason the shipment moved. The shipment moved because the connector did.
What you may rank, concretely
Rank the public post only when the warehouse has stock or the assembler has a dated collection slot you have confirmed by email. Rank a press mailing between two mornings your spokesperson is awake in the zones you sell to. Do not rank the fabricator’s promised day. You do not control it. Do not rank a certification exam. The lab does. A longer list of your own candidate mornings, when a plan can be paid for, is on the plans page. It will not include a row called “customs releases the pallet.”
Support after the box leaves
The launch is not over when the post goes up. Returns, a dead-on-arrival rate, and a spare-part drawer are the second half. Publish a contact that a human reads. Do not publish a day officer as a warranty. If a unit fails, replace or repair on the policy you wrote, even on a Destruction-labeled afternoon. Destruction is a rotating name. It is not a returns policy. Safety faults are a stop-ship and, where the law requires, a notice to the people the law names. We do not advise that notice. Counsel and your compliance lead do. Children are not a test lab. Do not recruit a minor’s birthday or a minor’s hands to “bless” a product.
The sentence for the changelog
“We waited until the May respin passed bring-up. First orders go out Wednesday. Support hours are 9:00 to 17:00 CET.” That changelog needs no stem. If you want one private line in a founder notebook that you glanced at a calendar after the samples passed, keep it in the notebook. The past-life quiz is entertainment and does not belong in a firmware note. A fictional past will not debug a board.
What this is not
- A substitute for parts, tests, certification, or freight.
- Legal, safety, or financial advice.
- A promise that an Open day will sell through.
- A chart of the product, the factory, or the buyer.
- Permission to photograph a prototype and fulfill a different revision.
- A medical device claim. If the object is a medical device, regulators and clinicians write that story, not a day card.
