BaZi vs MBTI: Chart Language vs Personality Typing
A four-letter type and a four-pillar chart are both easy to paste into a biography. They are built in opposite directions. MBTI-style instruments, and the many quizzes that imitate them, sort what you say about yourself. BaZi sorts a birth instant through stems, branches, and solar terms. PastLifeTest will cast the chart. It will not score a type code. The chart is professional guidance, not a party quiz and not entertainment. The past-life quiz is the entertainment fiction on this domain, and it is not a personality inventory either.
Key facts
- We never ask whether you prefer parties or libraries. Those answers cannot move a pillar.
- We do ask for date, time, and place when you want a chart. Missing time blanks the hour pillar rather than guessing your type.
- Retaking a questionnaire can change a letter. Retaking a chart with the same instant and the same city returns the same pillars.
- Ten gods are not the eight Jungian functions, and a useful god is not a dominant function.
- Employers sometimes misuse type codes in hiring. We do not offer BaZi as a hiring test, a clinical assessment, or a school placement tool.
- Light and full charts are $12.99 and $19.99 on the shelf. There is no MBTI SKU.
Answers you can change
Type questionnaires depend on self-report. Sleep, mood, language, and the way a question is translated all move answers. A person can test as one code at twenty and another at forty without any metaphysical event having occurred. That instability is not a scandal. It is what a questionnaire is. The useful caution is against treating the code as a permanent ID card, and against products that sell a code as if it were a birth fact.
Our fiction quiz has a related, clearly smaller stability: the same preference answers map to the same archetype. That is a story contract, not a trait measurement. It is entertainment. It should not be written next to an MBTI code as if both were assessments, and it should not be written next to a day master as if the story had cast a chart.
A chart that does not ask how you feel
The day master is the day stem of the birth, not a summary of your weekend. Element balance is computed from the pillars, including hidden stems in the full presentation, not from a Likert scale. Luck cycles arrive from the distance to a solar term and from the sex marker used in the traditional count, not from whether you said you were introverted. If the result feels unlike you, the honest checks are the clock, the city, and the historical zone rules, including daylight saving. The honest check is not to rephrase a feelings question until the pillar moves. Pillars do not move that way.
This is also why the chart is a bad therapist and a bad boss. It does not know your symptoms, your job performance, or your values. Reading it as guidance inside a tradition is the offer. Reading it as a diagnosis or as a reason to reject a candidate is a misuse. MBTI’s own publishers have spent years telling organizations not to use the instrument as a gate. We add a simpler line: do not use our chart as a gate either.
Translation tables we will not print
No letter-to-stem table
You will find blogs that equate a stem with a letter, or a ten god with a cognitive function. We will not host that table. It teaches people to skip both systems. A Wood day master is not “an ENFP.” A Direct Officer is not “a judging function.” If a sentence needs both jargons, it is probably two sentences about two different appointments.
Date selection is not a type either. A good-day window does not ask for letters. An optional birth date only applies clash penalties to the year branch and the day pillar. Your type code cannot raise or lower 开市. A team should not pick a launch day because three members share a letter. Constraints and the almanac sort, if you use it, are enough controversy.
What to open here
Open a chart if you want pillars and you can supply a real birth place and, if you know it, a real time. Read Light BaZi for the shorter professional note. Read the full chart if you want luck cycles and the longer discussion. Open the date tool if the question is a civil day. Take the past-life quiz only if you want fiction. Leave type codes in the questionnaires that were written to produce them. None of those doors charges a card today.
What this is not
This is not a psychological evaluation and not an attack on people who find type language helpful. It is not medical, legal, or financial advice. It is not entertainment dressed as a four-letter code. BaZi and Good Day are guidance. The quiz is fiction. We do not combine them into a personality product.
