Monthly Clashes in BaZi: Keep the Scale Proportional

A monthly clash is the current solar month’s branch opposing a branch on your chart, and it lasts only until the next section term, about thirty days. That length is the argument of this page. A note that brief can color a tense week, and it cannot carry a career, a marriage, or a medical decision. Professional BaZi guidance keeps the scale proportional so a short strain is not promoted into a plot.

Key facts

  • The solar month changes at the section terms, not on the first of a Gregorian month. A “March clash” that starts on 1 March may still be the previous branch.
  • The six oppositions are rat–horse, ox–goat, tiger–monkey, rabbit–rooster, dragon–dog, and snake–pig. The month must actually form one of those pairs with a natal branch.
  • A clash of your natal month branch by a later month is not the same fact as a clash already printed inside the birth chart.
  • Monthly scale sits under the year and far under a ten-year step. It sits above a single day officer.
  • A month that clashes the day branch can coincide with a quarrel. It can also coincide with a quarrel that came from lack of sleep. Coincidence is not a mechanism.
  • Good Day’s clash penalties are day-sized, six points and four points, and they are not a monthly verdict.

Thirty days is the unit

Section terms open the twelve branches. Between them, the month branch is stable. Planning that redraws a life at each term is using a weather front as an architecture. The proportional sentence is: for these weeks, this visiting branch opposes that natal branch, so I will not promote every irritation into a turning point. The sentence expires at the next term. If you are still using it in the following month, you have kept a heading past its pillar.

Natal clashes do not expire. A day branch opposed by the month branch inside the birth chart is a feature of the map, discussed with combination and clash. A visiting month that opposes the day branch is a guest. Guests leave. Treating the guest as furniture is the scale error. Treating the furniture as a guest is the other error: people wait for their natal clash to “end” when the solar month changes, and it does not end, because it was never monthly.

Month pillar versus monthly luck separates the birth month from the transit month. This page assumes you can tell them apart, then asks you not to inflate the transit. A clash year, by contrast, is a wide climate. Do not paste a month’s adjective onto the year’s meaning, and do not shrink a year note until it only covers this week.

What proportionality rules out

Proportionality rules out resignation letters timed to a term, relationship ultimatums timed to a term, and clinical delays timed to a term. It rules out the opposite theater too: enduring something harmful because “the clash month will pass.” Harm is not a branch. If you are unsafe, you do not wait for White Dew or for any other term. If you are unhappy at work, you still do not quit on the term day as a ritual. The guidance disclaimer puts clinicians, counsel, and immediate safety above the calendar.

Proportionality also rules out stacking. A clash month inside a clash year inside a heavy luck step is three true layers, if the pillars say so. It is not three reasons to multiply the fear. Write the largest layer once, the month once, and the deadline you actually face. Stacking adjectives is how thirty days become a personality.

The month and the conversation you already postponed

A day-branch clash by the visiting month is the note most often used to schedule a hard conversation, or to forbid one. Neither use is required. Some talks should happen because the person is in front of you and the topic is rotting. Some talks should wait because someone is exhausted, drunk, or in the middle of a shift. Those are ordinary reasons. The branch is not the reason. If you want a date inside a truly open window, an almanac rank on Pick a Good Day is a different tool, still not a promise that the talk will go well.

Work calendars add a Gregorian trap. Your sprint starts on Monday. The solar month may have started on Thursday. A clash that “covers the sprint” may cover only the last eleven days of it. Look up the term before you label the whole board. What BaZi is will not reschedule a standup.

Dinner at 19:30 that stays on the books

A couple in Lyon, both adults, have a dinner reservation at 19:30 on Thursday. One of them has read that this solar month clashes their day branch and that they should cancel rather than “eat inside the opposition.” The other has been waiting three weeks for a conversation about a move they might make next year. The month branch may indeed oppose a natal day branch. The opposition is about thirty days wide. The reservation is two hours wide. Canceling dinner does not end the clash, and attending dinner does not fulfill it.

They keep 19:30. They can agree, in ordinary language, to talk about the move for a set time and then stop, because fatigue makes talks worse, not because a branch set a timer. If the talk reveals a real disagreement, the disagreement has a lease, a job, or a family fact inside it. Four pillars do not chair the dinner. A monthly clash that becomes a reason to avoid a partner for thirty days has been planned at the wrong scale.

A proportional note

Name the visiting branch, the natal branch, and the term that ends the visit. Add one line you will not do: you will not resign, accuse, or delay care because of this month alone. Add the next civil clock. When the term passes, retire the note even if the mood has not passed. Moods outlive branches. That is a reason to trust the clock less, not more.

The light chart shows the natal branches the month might oppose. The full chart spells the natal pairs and, with hour and sex at birth, the longer climate you should not confuse with this month. BaZi and the full chart are those pages. Help will not extend a solar month. Good Day plans are for date windows, not for living inside a thirty-day ban.

What this is not

  • Not a year, a decade, or a character trait.
  • Not the natal clash reprinted as if it expired at the next term.
  • Not a reason to cancel care, a shift, or a conversation that should happen for ordinary reasons.
  • Not proof that a quarrel in the same month was caused by the branch.
  • Not a Gregorian month. The section term sets the edges.
  • Not entertainment. The short note is guidance.
