Study Plans and Good Day Selection
A syllabus already names the exam. A registrar already names the add-drop day. What you can still choose is the morning you treat as the start of the work: the first page of a language course, the first sitting of a revision block, the day a thesis chapter stops being a note and becomes a draft. Pick a Good Day ranks civil dates in a window you set, from the Chinese almanac, so that start is visible beside the constraints you already have. It does not sit the paper, and it does not move a board deadline.
Key facts
- Study is not one of the scored occasions. Travel, wedding, memorial, meeting, and opening or move are. A study start belongs on Custom.
- Custom points come from the yellow or black path and from the day officer. Starting school (入学) and learning a craft (习艺) can still appear on the day’s list. They do not add or remove those custom points.
- The form accepts a window of up to one year. One top day is shown without a subscription. The remaining order stays on the plans shelf.
- A birth date, if you add one, only penalizes a clash with your year branch (six points) or your day-pillar branch (four). It does not label each study day with a ten god.
- Sha direction and the Peng Zu line are printed on the card. They are not extra terms in the score.
- Lines about seeing a doctor, treating illness, seeking treatment, and acupuncture are omitted from the visible list and do not move the rank.
What the rank is actually counting
People ask for an auspicious day to begin a degree, a professional certificate, or a quiet month of reading. Traditional almanacs have long carried phrases for starting school and for learning a craft. On this site those phrases are translated when the day carries them, with the Chinese term kept beside the English. They are information on the card. They are not a sixth occasion with its own plus-four.
If you also need a flight to a campus, that flight can be ranked under travel, which looks for 出行. If the act you care about is signing an enrollment agreement, the meeting occasion looks for meeting friends (会友) and signing agreements (订盟). Those are different questions from “when do I open the book.” Mixing them produces a number that answers a question you did not ask. For the book itself, leave the occasion on Custom. The note field can hold a short label, up to forty characters, so the saved reading still says what you meant.
Officer and path, without a grade attached
On a custom window the day officer Success (成) or Open (开) contributes two points. Full (满) contributes one. Close (闭) or Destruction (破) takes two away. The other officers — Establish, Remove, Balance, Stable, Initiate, Danger, Receive — do not move this particular formula, even though their names sound decisive. Yellow path adds two. Black path subtracts two. Open is a traditional name for a day often treated as fit for beginning. It is not a forecast that the first lecture will be kind, and Danger in the officer list is not a medical warning.
First sitting versus the day the board chose
You can usually pick the day a revision block begins. You can rarely pick the day a licensing exam is administered. Ranking a month that does not contain the assigned date will not invent a new sitting. Use the window for the days you control, and leave the assigned morning where the notice put it. If the exam also requires a trip, run travel as its own rank. Do not treat a high travel score as permission to skip a required paper, and do not treat a low custom score as a reason to miss one.
A birth date is a narrow check
The optional birth field uses the year branch of that civil date, in the year-pillar sense counted from the start of spring, and the day pillar of that date. It does not ask for a birth clock. If a candidate day clashes the year branch, six points come off. If the candidate day’s branch clashes the branch inside your day pillar, four points come off. Both can happen together when your year branch and day branch are the same animal. Nothing in that step reads wealth, output, resource, or authority against the study day. Ten-god language lives on a BaZi chart, Light or Full, and it describes the birth chart rather than a semester.
Two people in the same seminar can therefore see the same almanac line and different penalties. If a group is choosing one start, say whose birth date was typed. A penalty that nobody else can see is a poor way to set a shared calendar.
Constraints that outrank the officer
A night shift, a child’s school run, a lab rota, a visa appointment, and fasting hours you observe are not inputs. If the only high-scoring day in the window is a day you cannot sit down, begin on the next day you can. Guidance that ignores the week you live is not useful guidance.
The civil date is the date in the place where you will study. A live tutorial at 21:00 in Chicago is already the next date in parts of Europe and the Gulf. Rank the date on which you will do the work. Do not convert that tutorial into a Beijing date and then call the converted date your study day. This house does not keep one capital clock for every reader. Daylight saving can move the clock hour of a live session. It does not split one civil date into two almanac days on this form. Historical daylight saving belongs to a birth chart that names a city, which is a different tool.
