Feng Shui vs BaZi: Space Versus Time Chart
Feng shui and BaZi meet in the same traditional neighborhood and answer different nouns. Feng shui, across its schools, is about a place: form, direction, a door, a desk, a grave, a flat. BaZi is about a birth in time: four pillars, a day master, elements, and on a full reading the luck cycles that follow. PastLifeTest casts the time chart. It can also rank a civil date for a move. It does not walk your rooms, and it does not sell a site audit. The chart and the date rank are professional guidance, not entertainment. The past-life quiz is entertainment fiction and says nothing reliable about a floor plan.
Key facts
- We have no product that takes a compass bearing of your front door.
- A move-in date can be ranked under the opening-or-move occasion, which watches 开市, 移徙, and 入宅. That rank is about the day, not about which wall should hold the bed.
- Sha direction on a good-day card is a printed compass word for that almanac day. It is not a feng shui prescription for your flat.
- A birth city on a chart corrects the clock. It does not evaluate the apartment you live in now.
- Qi Men and Zi Wei are also unmapped here. Space methods and star-palace methods are both outside the cast.
The room and the calendar
A practitioner who visits a house is doing spatial work: what faces what, what the land does, which school of forms or compass they follow. Reasonable people disagree about those schools. We will not adjudicate them, and we will not imitate a consultation with a paragraph under a pillar. If you want that visit, hire someone who does that visit and whose scope you understand. Do not crop our chart into a room report.
The calendar side is ours. If the spatial question is already settled — you have the keys, or you know which of two days the lift is reserved — the almanac can sort those days. Suitable or unsuitable 入宅 moves an opening-or-move score by four or minus five, alongside the other activities in that set. Path and officer move it further. A birth date can add a personal clash penalty. None of those steps rotates a sofa.
A move that uses a date, not a floor plan
Separate the questions in writing. “Which day do we take the keys” goes to the date tool, inside dates the contract allows. “Which room is the office” does not go to the date tool and does not go to BaZi. “What is the long timing language of this birth” goes to the chart, and it still does not name a neighborhood. Ten gods are not rooms. A useful god is not a direction to sleep.
People nonetheless blend them, especially around a move or a wedding. A yellow-path day does not cure a building defect. A strong chart does not make a lease fair. Survey, title, and budget remain the practical columns. We are not investment advisers and not surveyors. Hidden medical lines on the almanac do not rank, and a floor plan is not a clinic.
Time tools we do offer
Longitude is not a floor plan
The chart uses solar terms, stems and branches, and, when the hour is known, an hour pillar. Place is a zone and a longitude for the birth instant, including historical daylight saving, then apparent solar time. That is temporal precision. It is easy to misread as spatial precision because both use the word direction somewhere in the tradition. Our sha word on a date card and our luck-cycle language on a full chart are not a flying-star map. We do not calculate a period star for your building year. If a page online offers to do that from our pillars automatically, it is not our page.
The fiction quiz may describe an imagined room in a story. The room is scenery. It is not a recommendation to rearrange furniture, and it is not guidance. BaZi and Good Day are the guidance. The quiz is entertainment. Keeping scenery out of the move-in checklist prevents a kind of embarrassment that is easy to ship and hard to undo.
What to do with a real set of keys
Rank only the handover dates you can actually use. Read the why-text so a business-opening phrase has not quietly dominated a home move. Leave the birth field blank if the date is for a household rather than one person, or label whose chart was checked. Book the mover. Ignore any urge to ask the day master which crate to open first. For the birth itself, open the chart on its own evening, without the floor plan in the same screenshot.
What this is not
This is not a feng shui course and not a dismissal of people who practice one. It is not a site visit. It is not medical, legal, or financial advice. It is not entertainment. We offer a light PDF guide at /feng-shui; we sell neither a compass audit nor a story that pretends to be one. We cast pillars and we rank dates.
