Personal BaZi Matching for a Good Day

Personal matching on Pick a Good Day means this: you may add a birth date, and the rank will penalize a candidate day that clashes that date’s year branch or day pillar. The year branch is the one in force after Start of Spring. The day pillar is the sexagenary day of the birth date. That pair is the whole of the personal layer. It is not a full hour BaZi of you, and it is not a full hour BaZi of every date in the window. The tool remains almanac guidance, with a narrow BaZi-shaped correction on top.

Key facts

  • A clash with the birth year branch subtracts 6. A clash with the birth day pillar subtracts 4. Both can apply to the same candidate.
  • The birth year branch changes at Start of Spring, not on 1 January and not at the lunar new year.
  • The birth day pillar is the day pillar of that civil date. The hour is not asked, and luck cycles are not built for the list.
  • Occasion points still apply: suitable +4, unsuitable −5, yellow path +2, black path −2, Success or Open +2, Full +1, Close or Destruction −2.
  • One preview day is free. The rest of the window is the subscription.
  • A full day-master reading, ten gods, and ten-year steps live on the BaZi chart, which is a separate form.

What is actually compared

Each candidate day has a day branch, the animal of its day pillar. Your birth date, once converted, has a year branch and a day branch. The traditional six clashes pair the branches: zi with wu, chou with wei, yin with shen, mao with you, chen with xu, and si with hai. If the candidate’s day branch is the clash partner of your year branch, the score loses 6. If it is the clash partner of your day branch, the score loses 4.

The penalty is a sort key. A day that loses 6 can remain in the window and can still be the least-bad row if every other day is worse for the occasion. The card should make the clash visible so you see why a yellow-path day fell. Hiding the penalty inside a single “compatibility percent” would make the almanac impossible to audit. This page keeps the points public.

Because the year branch follows Start of Spring, two people born in the same January can have different year branches when the term falls between them. A birth on 2 February and a birth on 6 February are not automatically the same year in this match. The lunar festival does not decide it. If you have ever been told “you are a horse” from a lunar new-year table, check Start of Spring before you type the date and expect that animal. The civil birth date is what you type. The term decides the pillar.

What is deliberately left out

A BaZi chart needs an hour to print an hour pillar, and it needs sex at birth as well as the hour to count luck steps. Good Day matching asks for neither. Local noon is not silently used to invent a personal hour for every row. Hidden stems, nayin, void, structure, symbolic stars, and ten gods are not calculated down the list. The useful element is not compared with the candidate’s month.

That omission is the product boundary. Matching every date as a full chart would pretend the almanac day and the natal chart are the same object. They are not. The almanac day is a public label: officer, path, activity lists, clash direction. The natal chart is a birth. The bridge this tool builds is only the two clash tests, which are the traditional “does this day strike my year, does this day strike my day” questions.

A worked shape, without a personal promise

Take a birth whose year branch is wei and whose day pillar is xin-wei, which is one of the locked examples in this engine: 2 March 1991 sits after Start of Spring in a wei year, and that civil date’s day pillar is xin-wei. A candidate day whose branch clashes wei loses the year penalty. In the locked travel window, 6 October 2026 is such a day, and the travel score moves from a small positive without the birth date to a clear negative with it. The illustration shows the size of the penalty. It does not say that anyone born that day should avoid October, and it does not travel to a different occasion without a new count.

Two people, two runs

If a date must work for two people, run the window once for each birth date. The occasion points stay put. The clash penalties move. One person can have a clean year branch on a day that strikes the other person’s day pillar. The tool will not average the two scores into a couple score. Averaging would hide which branch clashed. Read both cards. Then use the ordinary criteria you already trust: who must be present, which date the venue holds, which date is kind.

Sex at birth is not collected on this form and is not used to tilt a wedding day toward either person. On the BaZi chart, sex at birth exists only to set luck direction. It is not a marriage script there, and it is not imported here.

How matching sits beside the other points

A suitable activity is +4, and two suitable matches can stack when the occasion has two activity names. An unsuitable match is −5, which already outweighs a yellow-path bonus. The year-branch clash, at −6, outweighs both the path and the Success or Open bonus. It is slightly larger than one unsuitable match. The day-pillar clash, at −4, equals one suitable match in size and so can cancel a single suitable listing.

Those comparisons are why the birth date can reorder a window without erasing the almanac. A day listed unsuitable for the act, and also clashing the year, sinks. A day listed suitable, yellow path, Open, and free of both clashes, rises. A day listed suitable and clashing the year can land in the middle, which is often the honest answer. Personal matching is a weight. It is not a veto switch hidden in the code.

Custom occasions ignore activity lists and keep path, officer, and, if you added a birth date, the two clash penalties. A purpose with no traditional activity name can still feel a personal clash. It cannot receive a fake +4.

When you wanted a chart, not a penalty

If the question is “what is my day master, and which element is useful, and what are the ten-year steps,” leave the date ranker and open BaZi. Light BaZi at $12.99 prints the pillars, the ten gods with an English gloss, element balance, a useful-element sketch, and a short reading. The full chart at $19.99 adds hidden stems, nayin, void, structure, symbolic stars, combinations and clashes, and eight 10-year steps when the hour and sex at birth are both known. Unknown hour blanks the hour pillar, takes the day from local noon, and skips the steps. That is the natal tool.

You can use both. Many people do. The chart describes the birth. The matched good day describes a window of civil dates with two clash weights applied. Quoting a luck step as if it were an almanac officer mixes the clocks. Quoting an almanac score as if it were a ten-god reading does the same.

Good Day plans are $12.99 a month, $29.99 every three months, and $89.99 a year for the ranked list beyond the free preview. They do not include the BaZi chart. An email magic link saves a reading and does not charge.

A careful reading of “personal”

Personal means the penalty uses your branches. It does not mean the day was chosen by fate for you, and it does not mean other people’s constraints are secondary. A clash is a traditional opposition of branches, the same opposition a chart reader would call a clash inside a natal chart. On a date list it is a cost in points. People travel on clashing days for good reasons. The card’s job is to show the cost before the booking, in language you can repeat without theater.

The past-life quiz does not supply the year branch or the day pillar. An imagined era is not a birth date. Type the civil birth date you actually have, or leave the field empty and use the public almanac rank alone. An empty birth date is a valid choice. The occasion, the path, and the officer still score.

What this is not

  • Not a full BaZi of each candidate day, and not an hour pillar, a useful element, or a luck cycle for the list.
  • Not a couple-compatibility product. Two birth dates mean two runs, not a blended destiny.
  • Not a lunar-new-year animal pasted onto the penalty. The year branch follows Start of Spring.
  • Not a ban. A −6 changes order. It does not forbid the civil date.
  • Not medical, legal, or financial advice, and not a promise that an unclashed day will go well.
  • One preview day is free.
